Sparshan (Touching Lives) is a non-profit community organization, founded in November 2008 by a group of Bengali families living in Switzerland. The group dedicates this endeavour to the people with a keen interest in the culture, music, dance, theater, arts and rich traditions of Bengal. The organization intends to grow and include a cross-section of people who have a penchant for cultural traditions embedded in the elements stated above.

Sparshan started with the membership of a few families from Zurich and Basel representing a cross-section of expatriates from West Bengal and some other parts of India. We dreamt to begin a 'one-of its kind group' in Switzerland dedicated to the cause of Bengali culture and traditions.

Our mission is to promote the spectrum of our diverse culture, the rich values and the threads of harmony that are embodied in the traditions of Bengali culture and history.

Our fundamental objective is to organize cultural and social events which would highlight the culture, heritage and traditions of Bengal to the world.

Sparshan as a group, with the aid of the community of Bengalis and Indians in Switzerland, would like to sustain and promote our Bengali culture and heritage that we are so proud of. At the same time we would also not lose sight of the higher values that transcend this culture.
